Preschool through Grade 3

Godly Play is a multi-sensory, liturgy-based, Montessori concept classroom, where story telling and wondering help children make the many stories of the Bible “their own.” Children respond using wooden story pieces, art materials, clay, etc. Throughout the year they hear stories from both the Old and New Testament, stories about Liturgy, and Parables. Great emphasis is placed on structure and order in the classroom, including “getting ready” on their own, which translates into a more reverent experience in the sanctuary.

The goal of Godly Play is to teach children the art of using religious language-parables, sacred stories, silence, and liturgical action to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. Although many stories will be told to all Godly Play age groups, some changes are made to challenge older, school-age children. Great care is taken to make the Godly Play worship center a place where the children’s ideas, opinions, and gifts are respected.

Grades 4 and 5

WEAVING GOD’S PROMISES is a three-year Episcopal curriculum for intermediate school students.  Our fourth and fifth graders use this program.  The mission of the program is to help children experience how God’s promises of salvation are woven into our lives; to show them the way of Christ, not only in church but also in the world as Christ’s ambassadors; to give children a solid grounding for future formation programs, which prepares them for Christian adulthood; to foster the spiritual formation of our children in Christ’s love and mercy; and to teach the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation.
